Sharing Sessions

Sharing sessions for VSA students

Sessions are organised in collaboration with VSA for alumni to share their experiences during the DP years and at universities with existing VSA students. We aim to give students the firsthand information of being IB students and what university life is like before making the decisions.

Notes to alumni attending upcoming sharing sessions

When addressing university application, we advise you to stress on what you share was your personal experience and the points may not be valid as DP courses or entry requirements for institutions may change or may have changed. You can share the points you wrote in your personal statement, the grades required for you to get into the institution, contents of the admission test(s), as well as questions asked at the interview(s). However, please do not give the impression to students that, for example, they can get into the course with the same grades as you did. The staff of the University Counselling Office at VSA would be able to provide more accurate and up-to-date information on university applications.

You are strongly encouraged to share your opinions and offer suggestions. For example, what you think is the difference between studying a DP subject at standard or higher level, what you think makes a good personal statement, what you think the interviewers or the admission tutors are looking for based on your understanding of the faculty or institution, and what you think would be good things to explore or do to prepare for the students' next step.

Regarding university life, we advise you share with the students on areas such as the teaching style, class size, modes of assessment, diversity of the student population, students clubs and societies, sports and art facilities, campus environment, access to academic support and counselling, student accommodation, adapting to the new life, as well as what you enjoy and not enjoy.
